Mar. 2.2012 [News] WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship
[Tournament Date] Feb.22-26 2012
The first-round opponent of Ryo Ishikawa was Bill Haas who has just won the previous tournament, the Northern Trust Open. Bill is also the overall champion of the FedEx Cup held last year.
Ryo was behind Bill with three strokes down on the back-side 13th hole. But Ryo fiercely came from behind Bill by making many birdies starting on the 14th hole at the end of the rope. On the final 18th hole where Ryo came to be all square, he successfully scored an amazing upset victory.
In the second round on the next day, Thursday, he played against Paul Lawrie (Scotland) who conquered The Open Championship in 1999.
Ryo had to chase Paul as similar to the first round and took the round to up to the final 18th hole, but sadly he was beaten in the game with one stroke down.
Ryo's next tournament is the Transitions Championship that will be held three weeks later.
Ryo aims to play at the Masters scheduled in April by being highly ranked as much as possible to reach the top 50 in the world ranking.
