Mar.30.2012 [News] Arnold Palmer Invitational
[Tournament Date] March.22-25 2012
Ryo Ishikawa played in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, which was his fourth appearance for four consecutive years. He missed the cut twice in his past attempts, and in two years ago, he successfully advanced to the final round but finished in the 40th place. For these reasons, he was quite motivated this time with a determination to show his growth and to make this four-day tournament as the momentum toward the Masters. His performance was aggressive on the first day, but he just suffered from sudden disturbance in his shots. He made his start in the tie for the 38th at a 1-over 73. But by the back 15th hole he failed to get up and down the score for a 4, and he resulted in being at a 5-over. This made him doubtful in making the cut but he birdied the par-5 16th hole. He also made a birdie by hitting an amazing second shot just 30cm close to the pin. Ryo successfully made the cut with the tie for the 61st place at a 3-over. He lowered his score for a 2 in the final round and finished this tournament with the tie for the 53rd place after all. But with his shots that became stable gradually during this tournament, he was able to feel a good response in his performance. Winning in the Masters at the age of 20 has been his dream since he was in elementary school. Ryo is now kicking off his challenge to this long-cherished dream.
