Ryo Ishikawa appeared in the 2012 Memorial Tournament as his second tournament of the five consecutive tournaments of the U.S. tour. He faced such a tough course which requires strict course management. On the second day in the tie for 35th place, however, Ryo lowered his score by making wonderful three consecutive birdies from the 14th hole, and successfully advanced to the final round in the tie for 12th place with a total of 2-under-par. Improving his score by one shot on the third day, Ryo reached the final day in the tie for the 5th place with five strokes behind the leader with a total of 3-under-par.
On the final day, amid the heated atmosphere for the championship, Ryo showed up himself with his tenacious performance. He provided highlight by making a miracle birdie shot in the 15th hole, hitting his shot just 3m to the pin from the cliff on the lower right in the green, finally he putted hole out with a total of 2-under-par. He managed to stay at the tie for the 9th place, and won a prize of 167,400 dollars. Ryo made a major step to be seeded in next year's U.S. tour.
